Jeans Care - Remove Lip Gloss Stain From Jeans
My daughter left her lip gloss in her jeans pocket and I didn't realize it
until after they came out the dryer. I couldn't believe the mess it made and
was sure I'd never get the lip gloss stain out of her jeans.
The first step to any kind of stain removal is to asses
the stain. Knowing the base of the stain is the key to
it's removal. In this case our stain is lip gloss and
that is grease based.
One of the best, simplest products for grease based stains
like lip gloss is Dawn dishwashing detergent. It may be necessary to use hot
water, something I don't normally recommend as it will set a stain if you
don't get it all out. Greasy stains are one of the exceptions because hot
water is usually the only way to get grease to lift. A good scrub brush can
be especially useful for removing a lip gloss stain, it gets into the fibers
of the jeans to help prevent the color from the gloss leaving a ghost stain.
Mechanics hand de-greaser
also works great for these types of stains (lip gloss, lip stick, lip
balm). My husband keeps some right at our
kitchen sink, I tried it on a similar spot and it worked like a charm.
You can get this type of soap for just a few dollars at any
auto parts store. Also, many grocery stores carry it, if they have automotive items.
A lip gloss stain that hasn't been through
the dryer is much easier to deal with and may only need your normal everyday
dishwashing soap and scrubbing. To avoid having to deal with a set in stain
make sure that the lip gloss stain is completely removed
before drying the jeans.
