Jeans Care - Remove Mildew Smell From Jeans
There are many reasons to end up with jeans that smell moldy or
mildewy. I'm not sure that mildewy is an
actual word, but I know it's an actual smell.
I've been guilty of running a load of laundry and forgetting about it and opening the lid to that awful smell.
I've worked charity sales and some of the donations were
down right unsellable for the stains and mildew smells, not
to mention some other unpleasant odors.
My friend ordered some jeans off of ebay that smelled
horribly of mildew.
My daughter spent the night with her friend, they had gone
out and played in the rain and then she changed her clothes, bagged her
jeans and promptly forgot about them. I found them a few days later and of
course they smelled of mildew.
You get the picture. There are so many different ways that
jeans can get that awful mildew smell, but luckily there's
an easy fix!
To Remove Mildew / Mold Smells From Jeans:
Wash the jeans in your washing machine as normal, but add
1-2 cups of White Vinegar along with your washing detergent. Use 1 cup of
it's a mild smell or a small load and 2 cups for heavy smells or big loads.
If for any reason the mildew smell isn't
gone, just repeat one more time. I've never had to go for a second vinegar
wash, but I can imagine that there could be a pair of jeans bad enough to
warrant it.
That's it! Probably the easiest, and maybe cheapest, jeans
problem solved.
